            Train with the Caravan, be a Champion

            Whether you are interested in sports, academics, or both, you can spend your summer learning with the Caravan! Attend one of our academic camps available for a wide range of interests or train with talented Caravan athletes and coaches in one of our many sports camps.

            Athletic Camps

            Train with Champions when you train with the Caravan this summer! Sign up for an athletic camp to learn more from Mount Carmel's dedicated coaches and talented student-athletes. You'll experience the skills and drills of Mount Carmel's storied Caravan Athletics program. All camps take place at Mount Carmel High School with the exception of Golf Camp, which takes place at Lincoln Oaks Golf Course.

            Academic Camps

            Since 1900 Mount Carmel has prepared young men of all learning levels and interests to attend the nation's top colleges and universities. Learn with the Caravan this summer and join a 120 year tradition of academic excellence. All camps take place at Mount Carmel High School.

            AGE RESTRICTIONS

            • Basketball, Soccer, Lacrosse, and Baseball: 2nd grade through incoming MC freshmen
            • Academic camps, Football, Golf: 5th grade through incoming MC freshmen
            • Rugby: 1st grade through incoming MC freshmen


            TRANSPORTATION

            Transportation is provided by Mount Carmel personnel at no additional charge to campers. See routes below, please note: when you are registering you will asked to specifcy route.

            Route 1: St. John, Indiana / Schereville, Indiana  / Dyer, Indiana

            Route 2: Northwest Indiana (Whiting) / East Side of Chicago

            Route 3: Mount Greenwood / Beverly

            Route 4: Orland Park / Tinley

            Route 5: Midway Area / Brighton Park

            Route 6: South Loop, Bridgetport, Carnaryville

            Route 7: Northside (Near North, River North, Lincon Park, Bucktown, West Loop)

            Please note: In the registration process, please choose the route that is most applicable to you.  Stops will be set by April 1st and posted.  You must choose a route in the registration process please refer to this list.

            Registration for transportation will close by June 1st.  

            If you need transportation you must sign up and choose your route.  If you do not, there may not be availablity.

            Camp Descriptions

            Athletic Camps

            Baseball Camp - June 8-11, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
            Coach Brian Hurry and his staff present a four day camp for grammar school boys of any age, including incoming Mount Carmel freshmen. Campers work in groups according to age and ability. Coach Hurry’s belief that fundamentals are the key to success in baseball is emphasized through drills and instruction. A round robin tournament is played to conclude the four days of training.
            • Campers are encouraged to dress in baseball gear and spikes, but shorts and a t-shirt are acceptable as well. 
            • Camp T-shirts will be distributed. 
            • A concession stand will be open to purchase snacks and beverages. 
             
            Basketball Camp - June 22-25, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
            Coach Phil Segroves has put together four days of basketball fundamentals and lots of fun for grammar school boys of any age, through incoming Mount Carmel freshmen. Practice your skills, and then put them to use in a team tournament.
            • Teams are determined by age group and skill level. 
            • Wear shorts, T-shirt, and gym shoes.
            • Do not bring your own basketball. 
            • Each camper will be given a camp shirt. 
             
            Soccer Camp - June 29-July 2, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
            Coach Tony Godinez’ Soccer Program is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Chicagoland area. He invites grammar school boys of any age, including incoming Mount Carmel Freshmen, to learn the basics, or continue to develop as a skilled soccer player.
            • Campers should wear soccer shoes, if available, or gym shoes, shorts, and a T-shirt. 
            • A camp shirt will be given to all who participate.
            Football Camp - July 6-9, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
            Coach Jordan Lynch, Heisman Trophy finalist, and the Caravan's seasoned staff, offer four days of conditioning, drills, and position coaching in this non-contact gridiron clinic. Boys in 5th grade through 8th-grade graduates are encouraged to explore and train in the sport of football. Learn from the coaching staff the guided the 2019 Caravan to a 14-0 record and Illinois State Championship.
            • Campers should dress for the weather: shorts and t-shirts if it’s warm, sweats if the weather’s cool.  
            • Wear non-metal football spikes if you have them, but gym shoes are fine.
            • Bring a water bottle or sports energy drink to stay hydrated throughout this rigorous camp.  
            • Beverages and snacks will also be available for purchase at our Caravan Concession Stand. 
            • A camp T-shirt will be given to all attendees. 
            Golf Camp - July 6-9, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm 
            The Mount Carmel Golf team and coaching staff will host a camp for incoming Mount Carmel freshmen and grammar school boys at Lincoln Oaks Golf Course. Transportation will not be available to the offsite camp.
            • Campers should dress for the weather: shorts and t-shirts if it’s warm, sweats if the weather’s cool.  
            • A camp T-shirt will be given to all attendees.  
             
            Lacrosse Camp - July 20-23, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
            The Mount Carmel Lacrosse team and coaching staff will host a camp for incoming Mount Carmel freshmen and grammar school boys on Carey Field at Barda-Dowling Stadium.
            • Campers should dress for the weather: shorts and t-shirts if it’s warm, sweats if the weather’s cool.  
            • Wear non-metal spikes if you have them, but gym shoes are fine.
            • Bring a water bottle or sports energy drink to stay hydrated throughout this rigorous camp.  
            • A camp T-shirt will be given to all attendees.  
             
             
            Volleyball Camp - July 20-23 , 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
            Coach Dominic Villa has designed four days of volleyball fundamentals for grammar school boys of any age, through incoming MC freshmen. 
            • Wear shorts, T-shirt, and gym shoes.
            • A camp T-shirt will be given to all attendees. 
             

            Academic Camps


            Musical Theater- June 22-25-11, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (Co-Ed Camp)
            The Mount Carmel Music and Theater program continues to grow under the guidance of Mr. Bill Spakowksi. Learn from one of the best at the Mount Carmel Musical Theater Camp.
            • A camp T-shirt will be given to all attendees. 

             
            Sports Photography/Photoshop - July 6-9, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
            Mount Carmel alum Jerrold Berry is the official photographer of Mount Carmel Football. Mr. Berry will teach students the finer points of sports photography over the course of the first two days. On days three and four, Ms. Menke, Mount Carmel's Graphic Designer, will teach students the basics of photoshop.
            • A camp T-shirt will be given to all attendees. 


            STEM/Robotics - July 20-23, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
            Students will have a lot of fun working in teams on a variety of projects as they learn about basic concepts in robotics. Students will design and build VEX Robotics racecars to compete in speed or strength, investigate using sensors to control robot behavior, and develop simple computer programs from programming blocks. This camp is run by Dr. Michael Rodgers who just led the robotics team to their first VEX Championship!
            • A camp T-shirt will be given to all attendees. 


            Graphic Design - July 20-23, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
            Students will be introduced to Graphic Design from Mount Carmel's graphic designer, Ellie Menke. Ms. Menke will teach students the basics of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite of products including InDesign, Premiere Pro and Illustrator.  
            • A camp T-shirt will be given to all attendees.
